Spring 2023 Series
Inclusive Content for Diverse Adult Learners
Inclusion and belonging are at the core of National University’s vision, mission, and ways of working. In this workshop, faculty will share and explore effective inclusive practices for providing content that helps foster our students’ experience of belonging. Full-time and part-time faculty guest speakers will share their expertise, and NU librarians will preview an exciting grant opportunity for OER creation and adaptation by NU faculty, students, and staff.
Culturally Responsive Teaching
As we continue to discuss inclusion and belonging in the online classroom in our OTLS Workshop Series, the May workshop will focus on culturally responsive teaching practices. We will discuss our role as change agents to promote an equitable learning environment for our NU students and explore what it means to be a Hispanic Serving Institution. Please join us for this unique opportunity to explore this topic and share ideas with your NU colleagues as we advance inclusion through Our Ways of Working.
Fall 2022 Series
Whole Human Education Resources
In a crowded landscape of nearly 2,500 universities, how can United NU stand out and make a difference? Our students are support-givers in their jobs, families, and communities, and they seek and highly value receiving such support in their educational journeys. Faculty play a key role in providing holistic support for Whole Human Education. In this workshop, faculty shared effective practices, discuss ways to use available student data, and explore tools designed to help faculty quickly and effectively meet each student’s unique learning needs. Workforce Readiness Resources
National University offers a wide range of personal, professional, and academic learning opportunities to help adult learners be ready to meet the demands of the careers of the future world of work in an evolving global environment. NU helps adult learners accumulate credits toward a college degree, certificate, or to meet continuing education requirements. In this second workshop in the series, faculty share and explore effective practices for supporting our students’ career needs through both course design and teaching, and discover the innovative tools that NU is implementing to help students more easily identify courses and programs that align with career paths and options.
